Why "63/28" Alone May Not Be Enough

The designation 63/28 does not always identify one exact bearing size.

Several non-standard bearing variants use a 28 mm bore but have different outer diameters and widths. These differences can affect whether the bearing fits the housing and whether it is suitable as a replacement for the original part.

That means matching the 28 mm bore alone is not enough.

For a replacement bearing, the complete dimensions should be checked:
Bore → Outer Diameter → Width → Bearing Configuration

    The Key Difference

All three variants have the same 28 mm bore.
    However:

    • 63/28 2RS C3: 28 × 68 × 18 mm

    • 63/28X: 28 × 72 × 18 mm

    • 63/28/25: 28 × 63 × 25 mm

These bearings are not automatically interchangeable.

Always verify the outer diameter and width against the original bearing, housing, or equipment specification before ordering.

    63/28 2RS C3

    28 × 68 × 18 mm · 2RS · C3

The 63/28 2RS C3 is a special-dimension deep groove ball bearing with a 28 mm bore, 68 mm outside diameter, and 18 mm width.

It uses double rubber seals and C3 internal clearance.

    63/28X

    28 × 72 × 18 mm

The 63/28X has the same 28 mm bore and 18 mm width as the 63/28 2RS C3, but a larger 72 mm outside diameter.

This difference is critical when replacing a bearing in an existing housing.

    63/28/25

    28 × 63 × 25 mm

The 63/28/25 keeps the same 28 mm bore but uses a smaller 63 mm outside diameter and a wider 25 mm width.

This configuration is intended for applications where the original bearing requires this specific dimensional envelope.

Which 63/28 Bearing Do You Need?

The easiest way to identify the correct variant is to compare the complete dimensions of your original bearing.

    If your bearing measures:

    • 28 × 68 × 18 mm → 63/28 2RS C3

    • 28 × 72 × 18 mm → 63/28X

    • 28 × 63 × 25 mm → 63/28/25

If your dimensions are different, don't assume one of these variants will fit. Send us the actual dimensions or a photo of the original bearing and we'll help check the correct specification.

Don't Choose a Replacement by Bore Size Alone

A 28 mm bore only tells you the shaft-side dimension.

    It does not confirm:

    • Housing fit

    • Outer diameter

    • Axial width

    • Seal configuration

    • Internal clearance

    • Bearing configuration

For difficult replacement applications, matching the complete specification is much safer than matching the bore or bearing number alone.

Same bore does not mean interchangeable.

Need Help Identifying Your 63/28 Bearing?

You don't need to know the exact replacement model before contacting us.

Send us any of the following:

    • Original bearing number

    • Bore, outer diameter, and width

    • Bearing photo

    • Drawing

    • Physical sample

    • Equipment model

We'll check the dimensions and configuration and help determine which 63/28 variant is the closest match.

Don't have all the information? Send us whatever you have.
A photo, partial dimensions, or the old bearing number may be enough for us to start the identification.

    Why Buy From EKB?

Special-dimension bearings can be difficult to replace because several similar-looking models may share the same bore while using different outside diameters or widths.

EKB focuses on difficult-to-source bearing requirements, including:

Special-Dimension Bearings · Inch Bearings · OEM Replacement · Bearing Identification

    We help customers:
Identify → Compare Dimensions → Check Configuration → Confirm Availability

    The goal is simple:
Help you buy the correct bearing the first time.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Are all 63/28 bearings the same size?
    No.
Several 63/28 variants can share the same 28 mm bore while having different outer diameters and widths.
    For example:
    63/28 2RS C3 = 28 × 68 × 18 mm
    63/28X = 28 × 72 × 18 mm
    63/28/25 = 28 × 63 × 25 mm
Always confirm the complete dimensions before replacement.

    Can I replace 63/28 2RS C3 with 63/28X?
    Not automatically.
Although both have a 28 mm bore and 18 mm width, the outer diameters are different:
    68 mm vs. 72 mm
The housing must be checked before substitution.

What is the difference between 63/28X and 63/28/25?
Both have a 28 mm bore, but:
    63/28X = 28 × 72 × 18 mm
    63/28/25 = 28 × 63 × 25 mm
Both the outside diameter and width are different.

How do I identify which 63/28 bearing I have?
    Measure:
Bore → Outer Diameter → Width
If the bearing is already removed, you can also send a photo of the bearing marking or a physical sample.

What if my dimensions are not one of these three sizes?
Send us the actual measurements, photo, drawing, or sample.
We can help determine whether your bearing is another special-dimension variant or a different bearing altogether.
